A 'Tonteria'

Today Brito was joking with me and sat down at the garden furniture demonstration, that they have at HiperDino, to pretend he had a taste of the vegetables they had put out on the plates as a decoration...Oh dear!!! People stopped and looked at him and started laughing!

Shiseido Powder

Yesterday I bought a new powder. The sells woman told me it's the best one on the market at the moment when it gives you a total natural look.
I was a little bit sceptical in the beginning, if I would buy it or not, when I haven't even heard of a brand called Shiseido. To me it sounded like it's a Cina product,
but it says on the box it's from Japan.
Anyhow, I have had it on today and must say I like it.
It's called Shiseido Multi-Shade Enhancer, Terra-Cotta glow,  and
here on Tenerife 10g (35oz) costs about 30 euros.

.

Calima

We have a heavy calima going on at the moment
(=heath from the Sahara desert with a lot of sand in the air).
The temperature in Los Cristianos is not too bad, about 28-30 degrees, but
we visited San Isidro and Chafiras today and there it was very hot .
I guess at least +35,  might be +40 degrees.
We many times have the best weather here in Los Cristianos when the high
Guasa mountain protect us from the eastern wind and today it protected us from getting the worse of the Sahara heat.

Los Cristianos is the place where to be!

.

The Football

This car owner thinks Spain and Germany are going to be in the final on Sunday.
I'm not a fan of football, but I think he might be right...?!
We'll get the answer tonight. Spain is ready for the final and
the fight tonight is between Germany and Italy.

I'm so happy this 'never-ending-football' soon is over.
But they say an other one will start in July...? Thank God I go to Finland!!!

The Sand And The Water Are Remedial

Brito says the hot beach sand.is good for your body.
If you as an example have got ache in your bones it can help to
put on some hot sand.

He didn't have any
ache but was anyhow tumbling around in it.

He also says the salty ocean water here in Canarias is good for your skin if
you suffer from allergies, psoriasis etc.

In this video clip you can watch him gliding around in the ocean on the inflatable.
Oh, I got a good laugh...

On The Beach

I've won an inflatable from Hiperdino but I tell you it wasn't easy to get up on it.

Blowing like crazy.

Brito took over and 'vips' was it filled.

In the beginning I just slipped off because of the sun oil.

I tell you, It was very difficult!

Every time I glided off.

Then I started wondering if I'm too heavy for it?
Seamed like it started sinking as soon as I got up on it!

But here you see;- You should never give up!
I finally made it.

Back home I found out I've had burned my skin again. *sigh!*

Brito made Canarian coffee to us that we had with Christmas cookies.
Oh, what a day!

San Juan 2012

Oh, we had a very different and lovely night but nobody of us did swim in the ocean when it was a little bit chilly and windy, only about +22 degrees..
There is a tradition that you have to have a dip at 12 o'clock in the night and really many did. Even the old ladies from the villages showed up in bikini strolling down to the beach to full fill the tradition.
The beach was crowded with families having meals and many made up small bonfires to stay warm.
The government had made a big bonfire that you can watch in this first video clip.

Later in the night I took a video clip of some youths while they did an other traditional San Juan ritual.
They made a bonfire on the beach and then they took one piece of their clothes and put it into the fire .
Then they started writing their wishes on a piece of paper that they later on throw into the fire and after that they started jumping over it believing their wishes will come thru.

Now we are on the way to the beach again. We'll leave as soon as I've uploaded this video clip, but this time to have a sunbath. The weather is just perfect here on Tenerife; Blue sky and about + 27 degrees.

Happy Midsummer

I wish you all a happy Midsummer weekend.
For the first time in my life I'm gonna celebrate 'San Juan' in a Canarian way.
It's gonna be big fires down on the playa and food and dips in the ocean in the middle of the night and a lot more...

But to be honest, I'm a little bit afraid of the big fishes and stingrays in the water so I haven't decided if I'm gonna have a swim or not....We'll see...!
I will anyhow wear the bikini in under in case of...

.

Finland Next

Among other things I'm gonna visit the island that my mam has out in the archipelago.

I'm on the way to Finland and will leave Tenerife on Sunday the 1st of July.
I'm gonna be back in the middle or the end of August.

My mum has bought a new boat this summer.
I haven't seen any photos of it but guess it looks something like this?
He,he! My sister was joking saying they must get a 'clodhopper insurance' for the boat when  I'm for sure gonna drive it on all the stones that are hided down in the water. We'll see?!

I look forward seeing the bird nest that I repaired last summer...
 Has it got any guests?

Hopefully we get to fish this summer so that we can start up the
smoke oven and smoke some fishes...? But it will for sure also be a
lot of barbequing like we did last summer.
Oh, I really look forward to get back...

I'll keep you updated as soon as I get an internet connection over there.

They Got A New Colour

Brito has bought a pair of jeans from Steinfields. Later on he stated that the color is not really what he wants...They were too light in his point of view. Practical as he is he then went to Mercadona and bought a box of textile color and started staining them in the bath tube. Believe it or not; the result was just perfect and even! They turned out to be exactly the colour he wanted! When it comes to this man I must say I never stop getting surprised!

Mjöd - Mead in English

Tomorrow I'm gonna make 8 liters more of Mjöd (Finnish sima).

This is the recipe:

8 Liters of good water(1.8 UK gal)
Bring the water to a steady boil and heat it up

1/2 kg white sugar (1.1 UK lbs)

1/2 kg Fair trade cane sugar (1.1 UK lbs)

3 large Lemons,
Wash them first in warm water.
Then use a potato peeler to remove the outer yellow rind of the lemons in strips, placing these in a large glass or plastic (non-metal and heat-proof) container (10 L = 2.2 UK gal ). Peel or trim off the bitter inner white rind of the lemons and discard. Slice the lemons and place in container with the brown and white sugar.
Once the water boils, pour it into the container with the lemons and sugar. Mix it by using a big spoon. Let cool to lukewarm

1/4 teaspoon of fresh yeast (zest)
(Don't put more when it can make the bottles explode later on!!!)
You take a little bit of the lukewarm water into a small cup and dissolve the yeast in it.
Then you poor it into the container with the lukewarm liquid and mix.

It's very important that the water is lukewarm! If it's too hot or too cold the process don't start and you don't get a good drink!

If you like you now can put a bottle off  beer (room temperature) into the container too. Some people do other don't.

Cover and allow to sit at room temperature for 24 hours (or max. up to 48 hours).

Wash the bottles (glass bottles are the best but you can also use coca cola plastic bottles) and strain the liquid into them after you have added 5-6 raisins and 1 tsp. sugar to each bottle. Seal tightly and keep in room temperature for 1-2 day or till the raisins float up to the surface.
Keep refrigerated for 3-7 days.
The best is to wait for about a week, but you can have a taste before if you like.
Serve cool.

Please, don't make the bottles totally filled when this can cause an explosion. Fill them as much as they normally are filled when you by a coca cola in the shop.
Please, remember to open the bottles carefully when they've got a lot of gas inside!
What ever you do don't shake them!!! Good Luck and Enjoy!

4 Nights Off

This week I'll have 4 nights off at La Karina.
It will be on Thursday- Friday- Saturday and Sunday night. (21-24 of June)
These three nights it's gonna be important football matches;
La Karina has been crowded with football watchers in the nights lately and
these 4 nights they all will be there when the winner groups play.
I would not get to sing much anyhow, and for me it's just perfect to get
some nights off, to spend with Brito, when it's the midsummer weekend
"San Juan".

Next week I will sing the nights when it's no Euro Cup football:
Monday Tuesday Friday Saturday.
Welcome.

UEFA EURO 2012 - CUP

The UEFA Euro, European Football Championship, kicks off on Friday the 8th of June and will be going on almost every night til the 1st of July.
I don't know yet how this will affect my show schedule at La Karina but I will inform you as soon as I know.
The matches start 19:45 in the nights and stop about 21:45 and there's probably no idea to sing while it's on when the most of the people who are tourists here in the summer time are watching the games.
I'll talk with the owner of the restaurant and see what he thinks and then I 'll let you know...

I will more or less work like normal.
There are 5 nights when I probably will start singing a little bit later i.e. the nights when England, Spain, Germany and Holland play, but the other nights will probably be normal.

Welcome.
